Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Cybersecurity Department Head to lead our cybersecurity strategy and ensure the protection of our digital infrastructure, student data, and internal systems. This role is responsible for overseeing risk assessments, policy development, and incident response while guiding the organization in maintaining a secure and compliant online environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity protocols, policies, and response plans.
Oversee security for all systems including student portals, CRM platforms, internal databases, cloud tools, and third-party integrations.
Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and system audits to identify and address security weaknesses.
Monitor for threats and suspicious activity, and lead incident response efforts when necessary.
Train staff and collaborators on cybersecurity best practices, compliance standards, and safe data handling.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, or applicable state/federal standards).
Collaborate with IT, operations, and leadership teams to integrate security into all areas of digital operations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in cybersecurity leadership, IT security management, or risk assessment roles.
Strong knowledge of network security, access controls, encryption, and incident response.
Familiarity with relevant compliance frameworks (FERPA, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
Experience managing cybersecurity across cloud-based platforms and remote systems.
Excellent analytical, communication, and team leadership skills.
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
Experience in education, nonprofit, or training environments is preferred.
