Course Description

This 2-hour course, educates dental professionals on their permitted duties and functions. Upon completion, dental professionals can ensure compliance, effectively communicate with the board and its committees, and promote public health and safety.

Course Objectives

This 2-hour course aims to provide dental professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage their dental practices. By the end of the course, dental professionals will be able to:

1. Recognize the authority and functions of the  Dental Hygiene Committee of California and their role for Practitioners of Dentistry, Department of Consumer Affairs.
2. Understand the utilization for auxiliaries and dentists
3. Understand & Explain the Scope of Practice of all and any Dental Practitioners.
4. Recognize failures in complying with the Dental Practice Act
5. Understand the consequences of failure to comply with Dental Practice Act ( revocation & suspension, citations, and fines)
6. Understand the laws of prescribing drugs
7. Know the requirements for license renewal
8. Understand the utilization for auxiliaries and dentists
9. Understand proper knowledge of professional ethics
10. Recognize and understand the obligations of reporting Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act and the Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act.

These objectives aim to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage their dental practices, provide high-quality care to their patients, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
